Ping An Bank Co., Ltd. (SZSE: 000001) is a national joint-stock commercial bank headquartered in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province. Tracing its roots to Shenzhen Development Bank — the first Chinese commercial bank to be publicly listed on a stock exchange — it was formed in its current shape through the 2012 merger of Shenzhen Development Bank and the former Ping An Bank, and has traded under stock code 000001 since April 1991. The bank is a core banking pillar of Ping An Insurance (Group) Company of China: Ping An Life Insurance and Ping An Group together hold roughly 58% of its shares, giving the bank a distinctive “finance + insurance” ecosystem advantage.

Ping An Bank operates a nationwide network of more than 100 branches and over 1,000 outlets, offering corporate and retail banking, credit cards, treasury operations, and investment services. In the first half of 2026, the bank’s revenue base remained well diversified: wholesale (corporate) banking contributed 46.1% of revenue and retail banking 44.7%, while net interest income accounted for 62.7% of total revenue and net fee and commission income 18.7%.

Against a still-challenging rate environment, Ping An Bank delivered steady, resilient growth in H1 2026.

  • Revenue: Operating income rose 1.8% year-on-year to RMB 70.62 billion (H1 2025: RMB 69.39 billion), with operating expenses well contained at RMB 39.79 billion (+1.3%).
  • Profitability: Operating profit grew 2.4% to RMB 30.83 billion, and net profit attributable to shareholders increased 3.3% to RMB 25.70 billion. Basic earnings per share rose 5.1% to RMB 1.24, outpacing profit growth thanks to the bank’s ongoing share-reduction program.
  • Balance sheet: Total assets expanded 2.6% year-on-year to RMB 6.03 trillion as of 30 June 2026. Total liabilities stood at RMB 5.48 trillion, while owners’ equity grew 7.5% to RMB 54.82 billion, lifting the equity cushion and trimming the debt-to-asset ratio by 0.41 percentage points to 90.91%.
  • Cash flow: Net cash flow from operating activities surged 23.1% to RMB 215.01 billion, reflecting stronger core deposit gathering and asset recovery. Investment activities swung to a net outflow of RMB 70.50 billion (from a net inflow a year earlier) as the bank rebalanced its investment portfolio, and financing activities saw a net outflow of RMB 196.01 billion.

Overall, the first-half results show a bank prioritizing profit quality and balance-sheet discipline over top-line expansion — revenue growth was modest, but profitability, capital strength, and operating cash generation all improved, keeping Ping An Bank on a stable footing for the remainder of 2026.
